The Wrapp Post
One of the most important calendar dates in the year? Does it show you care more if you give a gift to your loved ones?
So why is February 14th celebrated? It was in fact down to a priest named St. Valentine a Catholic saint who married young couples back in the 3rd Century and the date was the feast of this saint. In his final years, he was sent to prison by Roman Emperor Claudius II as he outlawed marriage for young men (apparently they made better soldiers when they weren’t romantically attached). During Valentine’s time in prison, he was said to have healed blindness of a young woman, and before his execution, he wrote her a letter, signing it “From your Valentine” a sign-off used today to show affection.
And why do we give our loved one flowers or chocolates at Valentines? Mr. Cadbury. developed the copious amounts of cocoa butter into “eating chocolate” as well, and as part of a marketing strategy Cadbury started designing the first heart-shaped boxes for his new chocolates, including special Valentine’s Day ones with cupids and roses.
